Mona Kowalska, the designer of A Détacher, has done a lot of thinking about travel for her Fall 2013 collection. The traveling woman's wardrobe was the jumping off point for a show that worked through many inventive and practical pieces from thin knits ideal for layering, to denim dresses and suits, to some printed dresses that would have you standing out in a crowd wherever you may be.
"Traveling can be transformative. No one knows you [where you're going] so you have a freedom to be whoever you want," said Kowalska before the show. The models had a bit of a nomad feel with their tousled bedhead that was achieved by placing a bowl-cut wig over the models' hair. Many pieces featured a blade of fabric that ran wrist to wrist providing the chicest detail on a coat or blouse. The black coat from Look 11 was definitely one of the best things I've seen so far for Fall 2013: Totally wearable and with just the right amount of detail to feel special. Another standout was a pair of navy slim knit sweatpants with a red stripe down the side, perhaps the chicest sweats you could want.
