Anna Sui opened her fall 2013 show in very Sui fashion, with a choreographed dance from models Karlie Kloss, Jamie Bochert, and Hillary Rhoda set to the tune of French cover band Nouvelle Vague's music.
The opener set the tone for the collection, which was unmistakably inspired by French New Wave, and was a welcome respite from the monotony of straight-faced models on day eight of New York fashion week. One thing we can always count on from Sui is to not take herself too seriously.
The clothes, like the designer, were exuberant and unapologetic in their style: a mashup of Sui's signature prints in a palette we've also come to expect from the designer--teal, burgundy, purple, blue and rust.
Kloss closed the show in a white lace frock, white tights, and a white lace bonnet. It was weird, but it worked.
