You guys, Big Ang--yes we mean Big Ang of Mob Wives fame--is in the latest issue of CR Fashion Book.
This means that Big Ang, again Big Ang, and Carine Roitfeld have met. Maybe even hung out a bit. Just think about that for a second.
The reality TV star (and her legendary tatas) was shot by Bruce Weber for a spread in the magazine's latest issue, also featuring Lil Buck, Alessandra Ambosio, Irina Shayk, Kiara Kabukuu, and "Carrie the Dancing Dog," who or whatever that is.
Speaking of dancing, according to WWD, it'll be a recurring theme this issue, which hit newsstands in Europe on Feb. 21 and in the U.S. on Feb. 28. Roitfeld was bitten by the dance bug a year and a half ago when she started taking private ballet classes and is channelling her newfound passion into the second issue of CR Fashion Book, with the theme of "Dance."
As with the first issue, this one has two covers: One featuring Ukrainian ballet star Sergei Polunin photographed by filmmaker Gus Van Sant, and the other featuring a stylized take on the ballet shoe by artist Brigitte Niedermair. There'll also be features on the American Ballet Theatre and an interview with dance legend Jacques d’Amboise.
"I’m obsessed with the body of the ballet dancer, obsessed with the music and obsessed with the Russian tradition in ballet,” Roitfeld told the trade. “When you are a dancer, you don’t get money. You do it because you love it. It’s so pure and beautiful--the freedom, the movement, the gestures."
Never one to let practicalities (you know, like being dead) get in the way of a good feature, Roitfeld also orchestrated a séance with ballet legend Nijinsky conducted by French ballerina Marie-Agnès Gillot.
Other highlights to look forward to: The first editorial shoot from designer Rick Owens, a Scotland shoot by Karl Lagerfeld, and an interview between Gisele Bündchen and fellow model Kiara Kabukuru.
However unorthodox Roitfeld's method, it's clearly working. The magazine's publisher, Fashion Media Group, has increased CR's circulation from 50,000 to 65,000. That's a 15,000 jump in just one issue. The cover price is also up $5 from $15 to $20. Ad pages, on the other hand, were down from 150 to 125.
