London design duo Clements Ribeiro showed this season a pretty, punked-up mix of the pieces they do best.
Cardigans were bonded with panels of silk and lace, and paired with flippy, floral silk kilts. The stomping creeper-style ankle boots by Underground added a necessary edge, as did the hair – slicked-side chignons with choppy asymmetric bangs. A leopard print bomber jacket and a series of Chinese embroidered pieces were a welcome change that stopped the show from looking a little too close to MSGM.
But as always with Clements Ribeiro, the true interest was in the small details. A huge, buckled, mannish wool coat sailed past to reveal an unexpected glittering crystal belt across the back. Embellished collars, now so ubiquitous on the high street, managed to look fresh and exciting when peppered with studs and colored enamel.
In all, it was an extremely wearable, fun collection that will definitely be a favorite of the street style stars at the shows in September.
