Designer Jade Lai delivered her signature brand of refined comfort with her Everything Is Fine Fall collection.
This season Lai was inspired by artist Louis Bourgeois, whose work was channeled in the dreamy color palette of pale pinks, blues and dove grey, as well as the subtle prints featuring abstract grids and even eyes (a signature of the artist). Models looked super cozy and relaxed (not always the case at a fashion show) wearing layers of plush fabrics, some topped off with adorably oversized knit caps.
Lei played with contrasts in several ways. Lightweight chiffon and silk were paired with thick quilting and cashmere suiting (so luxe, yet so understated), while proportions varied from streamline to boxy. There was also a subtly retro vibe with the styling, but fabric choices like gold foil and a cool shaggy cotton definitely kept things modern. The Pier 59 presentation was the perfect start to fashion week: low-key and full of next season's wishlist items.
