Want to go to fashion week but you a) don't live in New York and don't work in fashion or b) do live in New York and work in fashion but are lazy and hate the cold?
IMG has just announced that, for the first time, every show taking place at the tents will be livestreamed at newyork.mbfashionweek.com and facebook.com/mbfashion week. That means you'll be able to watch close to 90 shows, from biggies like Michael Kors and Diane von Furstenberg to up-and-comers like Marissa Webb and Timo Weiland.
IMG partnered with Rightster, a platform that distributes, promotes and secures advertising for online videos.
“At IMG Fashion, we constantly look to provide innovative solutions for designers to connect with buyers, press, and consumers around the globe,” Peter Levy, senior vice president and managing director for IMG Fashion Worldwide Events and Properties, told WWD. “Our extended partnership with Rightster will allow us to bring the rich content live from the runways to fans and media who support the event, opening the doors for designers worldwide.”
We had a feeling livestreaming would become a little more de rigueur this season. KCD's decision to open up its Digital Fashion Shows to the public was one hint. And frustration with the increasingly jam-packed NYFW schedule is at an all time high, with many designers eschewing runway shows altogether. Plus, the fashion industry may be a little slow to embrace technology, but it rarely goes backwards.
Will you livestream the shows this week?
