The scene at M.Patmos's presentation today was inarguably one of luxe-lust. It was as though at any moment, editors were going to rush the models for their chunky-knit dickies and generously tailored, double-face parkas. Word from a design team member is that the latter is a break-out hit at retail for the brand most-often associated with the sort of cashmere sweaters you jeopardize your rent money for in order to collect each winter.
This season's coats drew heavily from vintage army surplus detailing; glam styling countered them beautifully, as demure '50s proportions and camo—abstracted in sequins—amped both femininity and charm. That tomboy attitude that is so current, permeated the collection as well in the form of slim-tailored trousers worn with sharp sweaters and low-vamp pumps. Born of a knitwear legacy, M. Patmos is fast-shaping-up to be a complete sportswear collection...and a much sought-after one at that.
