Looting your lover’s closet for oversize cardigans and slouchy denim is one of our favorite perks of being coupled up. But be advised--if Nicole Miller’s newest collection is any indicator, the decidedly laid-back ‘boyfriend’ look is about to get a bit of a makeover.
It’s very all-black-and-borrowed-from-the-boys, only much slimmer, thus much sexier. The perfect-pairings? Think form-fitting tuxedo and marching band jackets over skinny cigarette pants; cropped boxy blazers over ruched knee-length skirts; and motocross jackets over leggings.
On the flip side, girly touches were added in the form of colorful mixed prints, rich brocade-like fabrics, billowing skirts, glitzy gold sequin tees and tanks, sheer blouses with leather-and velvet-detailing, sweater minidresses and eye-catching outerwear.
All in all, this was certainly one for the books. The main lesson learned here? Still take advantage of his wares but be aware of fit and proportion. (Oh, and the fedora is totally optional.)
