Croatian designer Damir Doma is certainly making the rounds on the international fashion scene. The designer just wrapped showing his men's and women's lines in Paris, has a loyal following in New York (including our own Leah Chernikoff and A$AP Rocky), and now it looks like he might be headed to Italy.
According to WWD, Doma is rumored to be the next guest designer at Pitti Imagine's Pitti W trade show, which runs from June 18 to 21 in Florence.
Pitti W, for those who don't know, is the smaller women's counterpart to the bigger Pitti Uomo menswear trade show--and each season the show invites a label, typically best known for its menswear, to show off its lesser-known womenswear. Past guest designers include Maison Kitsuné and Band of Outsiders, so getting the guest designer spot would definitely bode well for boosting Doma's profile on the international scene. Lapo Cianchi, Pitti’s director of communication and events, would neither confirm nor deny the news. However he wasn't entirely mum on the matter.
"What I will say is that we really like Damir Doma,” Cianchi said. “He belongs to a generation of young designers who fit in with Pitti’s line of thought.”
Damir Doma's PR hinted to us that Pitti has expressed interest in the designer before but that for now, this is "just a rumor."
Fingers crossed it turns out to be true.
