We're kicking off our March Madness tournament where it all started: New York. It's a strong line-up, with heavy hitters like Marc Jacobs and Proenza Schouler battling it out against the smaller-but-still-luxe collections of Derek Lam and The Row.
The ball is officially in the air--who will get the jump off?
Derek Lam got on the scoreboard early with points for his minimalist sportswear; voters called it "smart" and "well suited to today's woman."
But then Marc Jacobs came out full throttle with a show setting that was quite literally out of this world. He sealed the deal with luxurious clothing and strong styling, with extra points for being simpler than in seasons past.
As Dhani put it, "His take on luxury was pretty brilliant and appealing."
WINNER: Marc Jacobs
This was a tight game. Just as Proenza Schouler put up points for its streamlined collection, The Row shot a three-pointer for its quirky fuzzy slippers.
And while The Row continued to blow away voters with its intimate presentation, Proenza Schouler began to pull away with accolades like "immaculate" and "refined."
So although it came down to the final buzzer, Jack and Lorenzo sealed the deal with a collection that Fashionista contributor Steff deemed "the absolute best Proenza has ever done."
WINNER: Proenza Schouler
UPDATED BRACKET: Marc Jacobs and Proenza Schouler move on to the next round of competition.
Tomorrow: Dolce & Gabbana, Versace, Prada, and Max Mara will compete in Milan.
