Isabel Marant, the unofficial outfitter of models off-duty and any girl aspiring to get that French "I'm not trying too hard" look, was feeling soft and cozy for fall 2013.
The designer usually looks to some kind of Americana for inspiration--Hawaiian prints, Western wear, varsity gear--but this time she just went for plain and cozy. Imagine the thinnest, softest, thermal and then pile a few of them on top of each other and you've got the gist. Some thermals were longer and studded along the hem and meant to be dresses (though they were awfully short), while others were so barely-there, they were completely sheer. Ribbed knits with slits at the collar bone added yet another layer.
There were several great coats and jackets--like that black hooded belted number from look 5--but for the most part this collection was all about the pieces you'd wear underneath your winter outerwear.
Let's put it this way: If I were a skier--like, a really sexy skier--Isabel Marant Fall 2013 is what I'd probably want to have on beneath all my outer-skiwear. It was apres-ski done the Marant way. Maybe that's why the newest version of the wedge sneaker you'll be lusting after come fall is strapped up the front like a ski boot.
