He may design some of the most over-the-top, elaborate clothes on the market today, but apparently Roberto Cavalli doesn't think it's okay for certain designers to dress that way.
Cavalli, king of understatement, is criticizing the personal style choices of Karl Lagerfeld, who basically just wears a black and white suit every day. He said in an interview with Rankin's The Hunger magazine (via Telegraph): "Just because you are an artist you don't have to dress like that. Karl Lagerfeld, he looks ridiculous."
While we're not sure Cavalli, who designs outfits like this and says things like this, is really in a position to be calling someone else ridiculous, we guess he, himself, does dress pretty simply. If you consider shirts unbuttoned half way down, flared jeans and sunglasses "simple."
It's also not the first time he's picked a fight with a fellow designer. He and Giorgio Armani went at it last fall over the Milan Fashion Week schedule.
We're not sure what, if anything, Cavalli has against Lagerfeld; but both designers are known for their outspoken nature--maybe Cavalli just wants more headlines? We're happy to oblige. We'd also love to hear what Lagerfeld has to say about this. Karl? We're waiting...
