Rompers and overalls have been in for a while now. And of course shorteralls have been immortalized on Girls. But recently, the overall fad has been trending back to the original--as in full jean overalls. Or, as Leah called them "denim pantseralls."
They're really cute and perfect for summer (see: our street style girl today) but here's the rub: They're crazy hard to pull off.
So I asked my friend, Anastasia Nairne, who works in fashion and has done extensive research on the subject (she rocks overalls like nobody's business) to give some helpful tips on what to wear with them. Here's what she had to say:
"[Wear them with] a striped shirt, or a basic blouse (don't do plaid, you'll look like a farmer) with the neck open and sleeves rolled up, in a plain-ish color or fun print à la Alexa. Basic white tee also works but very zzz. Breton is just the go-to."
She also stresses the importance of a good clutch and a shoe with height to dress them up. And if you're doing the blazer thing, wearing it as an editor's cape is a great option too. And as we've learned from Leandra Medine, a statement necklace and overalls go together like milk and Oreos.
So without further ado, here are five outfit ideas to have you working those overalls like nobody's business.
