JW Anderson's one-off capsule collection for Versace will be unveiled at a "happening" tonight in New York (Grimes is performing) and WWD got a sneak peek at it and the new new Versus Versace collection.
A little confused? We were too. Here's the deal: there's Versus Versace, "a seasonless collection of house classics," and then, separately, the one-season capsule line by Anderson. (Many more one-off collabs will follow.) The former, comprised of timeless Versace signatures--think leather, studs, safety pins and belt prints--is available on VersusVersace.com now. Prices range from $250 to $1,250. The J.W. Anderson collection won't be available until June 15 and will also be sold at Net-a-porter, Opening Ceremony, Browns of London and Saks Fifth Avenue.
So what does Anderson's collection look like? For one, there doesn't seem to be much of a disparity between the men's and women's pieces. In fact, WWD's Jessica Iredale admits to mistaking the former for the latter. Both feature plenty of body-con crop tops, lace, and bright colors. “Unisex is the most modern thing that a lot of people do not touch on," Anderson told WWD. “The whole collection has to feel jarred....I think there’s a sharpness of the bridging of the [male and female]."
Though Anderson doesn't mention it explicitly, we're also getting a club kid vibe--one of the male models, wearing a pink and lace top, was styled with a what looks like a thick black elastic tied around his upper arm. Is heroin chic back?
