Game of Thrones Fashion Recap: The Red Wedding

Warning: Spoilers ahead. How can I possibly talk about the fashion during this week's episode of Game of Thrones? Well, I'll do my best. Click through to see the meager fashion from the episode--prior to that, um, horrifying scene at the end.

Warning: Spoilers ahead.

How can I possibly talk about the fashion during this week's episode of Game of Thrones? And I thought Tyrion and Sansa's wedding in the last episode was depressing.

Anyone who's read the books has been dreading the so-called "Red Wedding" this season. Watching it was just as bad as I feared it would be. And Daenerys didn't even wear anything new over in Yunkai, which would have softened the blow just a bit. Ugh.

Click through to see the meager fashion from the episode--prior to everyone being slaughtered, that is.

Robb Stark and Talisa Contemplate the Future:

Robb Stark's wife Talisa reminds me a lot of Kate Middleton: Pregnant with future king's child. Does good deeds. Doesn't dress too flashy. She even has the same half up/half done 'do. Unlike Middleton though, Talisa lives in a fictional, exceptionally cruel world. RIP, entire Stark blood line.

Let's Check in with Arya and The Hound:

We've seen a lot of Arya this season, but haven't talked much about her. The poor thing has either been running from someone or been a prisoner the whole season. She'll probably never have to dress like a girl ever again, at this rate--which maybe isn't so bad. During the close-ups last night I was really admiring the stitched together pieces of leather that make up her vest. It would make a very cool Isabel Marant jacket.

Also, unrelated to fashion, The Hound is a complex character and I like him, despite his many flaws.

Daenerys' Uniform Is Back

So Daenerys is back to her usual blue uniform this episode. This is totally her go-to conquering outfit. Even though it gets a bit boring seeing her in the same outfit every season it's pretty realistic for someone who's busy leading an army.

The Frey Bridal Line-Up:

How on earth did they cast for this scene? "Seeking slightly frumpy ladies. Larger nose a plus."

Look, It's the Happy Newlyweds!

Edmure really thought things were looking up when he saw his very pretty (and very young) new Frey bride. I wonder if he actually was able to go through with the bedding ceremony before all hell broke loose. Anyway, it's a shame that delicately embroidered shawl potentially got blood all over it.
