The plane carrying Missoni heir Vittorio Missoni which went missing off the coast of Venezuela earlier this year, has been found.
According to a statement released by Missoni, the plane was found by oceanographic ship Deep Sea in waters North of the Los Roques archipelago; the aircraft, carrying Missoni, his life partner Maurizia Castiglioni, friends Guido Foresti and Elda Scalvenzi and two crew members, took off from Los Roques on January 4 before disappearing off the radar.
The plane was found five days ago, and was identified today as the missing plane. It has not yet been recovered, and there is not yet any new information on the fates of the passengers aboard.
"[We have] faith the investigations will continue until the causes and the responsibilities of the accident will be ascertained," the Missoni, Castiglioni, Foresti and Scalvenzi families said in a statement.
The families also thanked the Venezuelan and Italian governments for their "commitment in making this search possible."
