Victoria's Secret Angel Behati Prinsloo might not have been discussing new fiance Adam Levine at last night's launch of the latest Victoria's Secret perfume (her handlers told me questions about her recent engagement were off limits), but she's obviously on cloud nine this week.
"This is one of the most incredible days of my life," she told the audience, "not only because of this fragrance but because of everything that's just happened, to this point--I just want to cry!"
Which she actually did--at several points during her speech, Prinsloo got so choked up that she had to back away from the mic and try to (adorably) compose herself.
It's this genuineness and relatability that makes Prinsloo the perfect face for Victoria, Victoria's Secret's new fragrance that VS Beauty president Susie Coulter is calling their "most personal creation." They worked with perfumers in both Paris and New York to get the "juice" of the fragrance just right. They've even copyrighted the core note--a floral they're calling "Victoria's Rose." Victoria's Secret is launching accessories with the fragrance, from train cases to iPhone covers, turning the fragrance into a lifestyle collection.
"The only thing we needed to finish the story was the perfect Angel," Coulter said. "Behati exemplifies the Victoria fragrance because she’s fresh, but really modern, charismatic and totally cool, super downtown but funny and energetic."
The model, who started as a Pink model five years ago and refers to the Victoria's Secret team as her second family, is truly touched by being chosen as muse for a Victoria's Secret fragrance. "It's very surreal and overwhelming," she told me after the presentation.
"To be appreciated for who you are as a person and to be seen as an inspiration behind a fragrance to someone you work with day in and day out was such an overwhelmingly, amazingly emotional feeling!"
And in case you're wondering, Behati actually loves the fragrance inspired by her, calling it "a little naughty and a little nice, a bit rock n' roll but also feminine." (Truth be told, I usually find VS perfumes too sweet, but I really like Victoria too.)
But really, between being named muse to one of fashion's biggest brands and getting a gorgeous ring (I managed to sneak a peek and good job Adam), what isn't to love? "This whole week with this, and everything happening, has been just a dream come true," she told me with the biggest possible smile plastered on her face.
