His Royal Highness, Prince of Cambridge, who was welcomed into the world yesterday by Prince William and Kate Middleton (remember her?), will not only get a 41-gun salute today in London (along with 62 shots fired from a canon at the Tower of London), but he's already got fashion's most high-profile designers vying to dress him.
WWD asked designers Karl Lagerfeld, Christian Lacroix, Dior, Vera Wang, and more, to sketch some gift ideas for the royal babe (whose name has yet to be announced).
Lacroix sketched an ornate, royal pram, Dior imagined a whole collection of delicate babywear, and Lagerfeld, never one to be afraid to push the limits with his sketches (like that cleavage-bearing maternity dress for K.Midd), envisioned a pacifier in the shape of the crown: "A Royal Dummy" he's calling it. WWD notes that pacifiers are commonly called dummies in England. We still laughed a little.
Between Lacroix's over-the-top pram, and Vera Wang's silver rattle--engraved with HRH, obv--there's tons of goodies for the future king to enjoy. One question though: Will he stick to his mother's rule and not accept any designer freebies?
