An Up-Close Look at Jason Wu for Lancôme

We first heard way back in February that Jason Wu was collaborating with Lancôme on a limited edition makeup range--but there's nothing like seeing a collection up-close and personal to get you really ramped up. We first heard way back in February that Jason Wu was collaborating with Lancôme on a limited edition makeup range--but there's nothing like seeing a collection up-close and personal to get you really ramped up. And last night, at the line's official press launch at NoHo's Indochine restaurant, we were finally able to do just that.

The verdict? Well, no surprise here: The collection is gorgeous, girly, and streamlined--no filler whatsoever. Each 'color design' eye shadow palette is comprised of five shimmery colors--two of which include a rich Yves Klein blue, one of Wu's favorite accent colors. We'd almost be intimidated by the blue shadow (even blue by Wu), if it weren't for the helpful makeup color charts accompanying each palette. Wu x Lancôme also includes three individual pressed powder shadows, three lipsticks, three nail polishes (all in varying shades of red), black liquid liner, a combination shadow and liner brush, and in an unexpected twist, a navy-hued mascara.

Wu was very adamant that the packaging of the collection reflect his design aesthetic as well, telling WWD, "I think it will stand out on the beauty floor because I don’t think anyone else is using gray for their collection right now. I think the packaging part is as special as what’s inside."

The limited edition collection will go on sale at Nordstrom (and Bergdorf Goodman in New York City) during New York fashion week--and it won't be the last we see of Wu x Lancôme. The designer has already created a second collection, set to debut sometime next year.
