Madonna Wears a Grill, Eye-Patch, Marie Antoinette Wig and No Pants to Celebrate 55th Birthday
Madonna turned 55 last week and she celebrated by throwing an insanely over-the-top French Revolution-themed bash in the South of France. The Queen of Pop went as the Queen of France, Marie Antoinette, naturally. Of course, Madonna's take on Marie Antoinette's fashion was slightly riskier than anything even the Dauphine herself would have dared to wear. She wore an French 18th century-style blond wig, a black heart-shaped eye patch (why not?), a silver grill (of course!), a purple sequined bustier, and no pants. This woman looks so good pants-less we'd be surprised if she put them on anytime soon.
Madonna seems to have had a blast. She Instragrammed a photo of her "lewk" from the night with the caption, "Perhaps we had too much Cale! But at my Birthday Party all I could see was LOVE'" quickly correcting herself, "Perhaps I had too much Champagne! I meant to write CAKE!"
Based on Instagram evidence from the bash, there was lots of champagne, cake, and love. She let them--hundreds of party goers including Givenchy designer Riccardo Tisci, photographer Mert Alas, and all-grown-up daughter Lola--eat lots of cake (a custom confection cooked up by La Duree). And then then there were fireworks.
Take a look.
