Nail Art Frenzy Reaches a Fever Pitch with New Reality Competition Show
From crazy stickers to bizarre textures, we wondered if there was anything left for the future of nail art.
As it turns out, there is: Reality television.
Nailed It! (because really, what else were they going to name it?) will pit the country's "top nail artists" against one another for a cash prize--and, more importantly, the title of ULTIMATE NAIL ARTIST. Contestants will work with "extreme themes and over-the-top custom designs, using gels, wraps, polishes, glitter, lace, 3D objects and more"--so no French manis here--in what basically sounds like a nail art version of Project Runway.
Variety reports that the show is being devleoped by Oxygen. Cori Abraham, Oxygen's Senior Vice President of Development and International, hopes the show will be a big hit with their key demographic. "Nail art is in the cultural zeitgeist of Oxygen’s viewers as young, modern women are looking at new ways to express themselves," she said.
