Invent as many fancy fashion apps as you want, tech world. Instagram will always (okay, well, maybe not always) be the fashion crowd's app of choice, and its influence has never been as prominent as it was during this past New York fashion week.
Not only was everyone posting Instagram pics of everything, at all times, but, at times, it almost felt like designers and producers actually had Instagram in mind while planning shows and presentations. Since a simple runway shot with difficult lighting and fast-walking models rarely makes for a good camera phone photo, it takes a little something extra to make for a real Instagrammable moment--and several shows had that. Confirming our suspicions, Francisco Costa told Bridget Foley in an interview this week he was "focusing on Instagram" for his spring 2014 show. And people are catching on--we've heard several showgoers describe what they'd just seen as "perfect for Instagram."
There were the skipping models at Honor; the literal beach runway at Tommy Hilfiger; the plastic box at Prabal; the cars at Opening Ceremony; the celebrities at Jeremy Scott; Harper Beckham at Victoria Beckham; Thom Browne's insane asylum-themed "runway," and so much more.
