Marc Jacobs's shows are consistently a highlight of New York Fashion Week--from his over-the-top staging to his incredible clothes, his runway is always the perfect end to the insanity each season. One major reason? He's not afraid to take risks--with his designs, as well as his models--and his spring 2014 show was no exception.
To coincide with his darkly twisted "frat party on the beach" theme, Jacobs cast a few unexpected bad-girl party-scene regulars to walk alongside the standard strutters: Terry Richardson cohort Charlotte Free (almost unrecognizable with her shock of pink hair hidden beneath that chopped-up wig), model-celeb spawn Georgia May Jagger, singer Sky Ferreira, and that lil' nymphet we've missed so sorely all season--Cara Delevingne, who apparently flew in from London to take part in the show.
What these ladies lack in height (the median height for the four of them is around 5'7"--miniature in model standards), they more than make up for in panache--so kudos to Jacobs for continuing to surprise us by thinking a bit outside the model casting norms. It's a special skill to get a girl who allegedly hates fashion week to walk in one of its most high-profile shows. Even more so if you've previously called her a dwarf.
Oh... and for those interested, Lily McMenamy was there, too. With a top on, this time.
