Jade Lai, who is known for her perfectly tailored and totally understated basics, once again created a beautiful collection with a whimsical twist on the Maritime Hotel's chic terrace. "I was inspired by fifties and sixties resort chic," explained the designer after the show. "We also experimented with indigo dying, which was really cool."
Thinking of lazy island holidays, the designer chose a soft palette of camels, navy blues, forest greens, and fresh whites to update heritage classics. There were little cardigans, oversized cotton shirts, fluid dresses, casual shorts, and wide pants. Everything was crisp and lovely--and, most importantly for the designer, comfortable. She added fun twists such as chambray on indigo, little star prints, and gold lamé shorts. So for those who aren't planning a yacht getaway anytime soon, there are plenty of options for the office and sunset barbecues in Brooklyn or Silverlake. We know that Lau's dedicated following will be delighted.
