Yes, sadly, we are still talking about Miley Cyrus's controversial MTV VMA performance.
The provocative show, in which Cyrus wore almost nothing, stuck out her tongue a lot, rubbed her privates against a giant foam finger, pretty much humped Robin Thicke, and twerked like it was going out of style (is it? can it?), allegedly raised an eyebrow or two over at Vogue.
According to the Daily Mail, Anna Wintour had plans to put Cyrus on the cover of Vogue's December issue and those plans changed after Cyrus all but had sex on stage at the VMAs late last month.
"Anna found the whole thing distasteful," a source told the Mail. "She decided, based on Miley’s performance, to take the cover in a different direction."
While Daily Mail reports that the cover had already been shot, Refinery 29 is reporting that the cover was "never set in stone" and the shoot had yet to take place.
We reached out to Vogue, which told us it doesn't comment on "rumors of future editorial."
So we can only speculate, but we think it's entirely possible that Cyrus could have been pegged for a Vogue cover. She's been getting a lot of attention for her risky (in a good way, in our opinion) fashion choices lately and it would be a surprisingly edgy but reasonable choice for Vogue--it can't be denied that Cyrus is gorgeous and looks great in clothes. At the same time, V was probably a better platform for her to solidify her new image on.
So, who will Vogue replace her with? Another young musician? Give us your guesses in the comments.
