I realize on an intellectual level that the characters I'm watching on my favorite TV shows are actors. But it's often jarring, especially with a character you really connect with on some level, when I see that person in real life. (We're now three seasons into
Jon Hamm as Don Draper on Mad Men:
Who knew Jon Hamm was a bear? According to a release I got regarding his grooming for the Emmys, he grew that thing in three days. "I love not shaving. This ends up happening," Hamm said in the release. "I was in England and was working on a project and had been away for four months and I finally got home and I was like, I think I'm done with shaving for a little while. That was about three days ago and then this happens.”
Don Draper as a dirty, beatnik hippie? Maybe that will come out in the series finale.
Taylor Schilling as Piper on Orange Is the New Black:
It's obvious on the show that Piper is pretty, but she really went nuts at the prison commissary before her turn on the Emmys red carpet. Taylor Schilling wins my vote for best overall look last night. Heck, I'm now going to make her MY dandee-lion, so back off Crazy Eyes.
Uzo Aduba as Suzanne "Crazy Eyes" Warren on Orange Is the New Black:
Speaking of Crazy Eyes, actress Uzo Aduba wins for most transformed. She technically wasn't at the Emmys last night, but she hit up a few pre-Emmys parties and OMG THAT IS WHAT SHE LOOKS LIKE IN REAL LIFE. You might want to reconsider, Piper.

Anna Gunn told Giuliana Rancic on the red carpet that she really wished that just once Skyler could have used some of that meth money to buy a nice dress, instead of the frumpy things she usually wears. Five seasons of wearing mom jeans (not the cool, ironic kind) really paid off, though, because she won an Emmy.

Heisenberg sure cleans up nicely on the red carpet! This is what he might look like (post-chemo, of course) if HE used some of that drug money, instead of just carting it around from place to place in huge barrels, to buy himself a nice Armani tux.

Erm, Jessica has some explaining to do, because her hub ran away to Canada last season. Is hottie Mike the baby daddy? No seriously, though. We're looking forward to seeing how they hide Baccarin's pregnancy in the upcoming season of Homeland.
Elisabeth Moss as Peggy Olson on Mad Men:
I want my hair to look exactly like Elisabeth Moss's. Also, Peggy would get so much more tail than Joan (or at least an equal amount) if she looked like this on the show.
