Bromance was in the air at Richard Chai/Richard Chai Love. For one, the Jonas Brothers sat front row, right next to Teen Wolf's Colton Haynes and Zachary Quinto. And sitting quietly in another section was Chai's oldest and closest design pal Phillip Lim who came to show his support.
The theme carried into the design too. This season Chai partnered up with Andrew Marc to revamp their classic leather jackets. Styles included motos in a chic white colorway and basic bombers in black.
As always, Chai's men's collection was well-tailored--perfect for the downtown dudes who care what they wear but don't want to admit to it. That included ensembles which had short cotton shirts layered over long ones--like prefab layering. Other looks included seersucker cotton pleated shorts and slouchy trousers. One suit seemed to reference Giorgio Armani--the cut, the billowy pants and wide lapels. Tailoring aside, we wish Chai would step away from the drab color palette for men.
The women's side, however, more than made up for the men's monotone with loads of colorful prints. Girls walked down the catwalk in striking slate blue windowpane blazers. One look--a jacket, cool trousers and an aqua colored train--was one of the best looks we've seen from Chai yet.
