The Munich-based design duo Johnny Talbot and Adrian Runhof are best known for their red carpet-ready dresses, so it’s no surprise that for spring, they were inspired by one of the world’s great performers: Barbra Streisand.
The result was a retro-tinged collection heavy on the capes, a Streisand favorite. One gown in particular stood out: It was made from a graphic hologram brocade on a cotton jacquard, and featured a short cape. The silhouette was ‘60s, but the fabric was ultra current. There were also lots of high necklines and flared skirts, the former of which rarely flies in Hollywood, where décolletage is a place of pride. But let’s hope more stars take a cue from this line and realize that regal can be alluring, too. Just look at Streisand.
