Is Lena Dunham Worthy of a Vogue Cover?

Lena Dunham scored a striking cover this month for Marie Claire UK, but now one powerful American editrix is reportedly hoping to book her next.

Lena Dunham scored a striking cover this month for Marie Claire UK--could the all important fashion bible be next?

An anonymous, "well-placed" source told Radar Online that Anna Wintour is hosting a "top secret, private dinner" in an attempt to charm the Girls star into accepting a Vogue cover spread.

“Anna is trying to seduce Lena into bringing her next-generation audience into the Vogue brand... and she’s willing to violate a lot of Vogue traditions to do it," the source told Radar. Let's be real: We all know these said "traditions" have everything to do with Dunham's body type, since Wintour rarely features curvaceous women in her magazine—let alone on the cover.

We love Dunham's willingness to experiment with her personal style—especially since she champions young designers like Wes Gordon and isn't afraid to take a risk by wearing a fashion-forward piece by Prada--and paired with her wise-beyond-her-years intellect, we think that she's a great fit for the glossy. If anything, she'd be a wild card not because of her weight but because she's still fairly new to the spotlight. Of course, Hamish Bowles was her date to the Met Gala once, so she's clearly friendly with the magazine.

According to the "source," Wintour is operating on argument that she and Dunham "need each other," but judging by how quickly Dunham's star is rising (the third season of Girls premieres on January 12!) we'll have to respectfully disagree on that one.
