In the years following her first few frenzy-inducing Topshop collaborations, we've hoped and prayed that Kate Moss would put her design hat back on--and she finally has, once again for the British high street retailer owned by her pal Sir Phillip Green.
The collection of around 40 styles is set to hit stores in April--Moss is currently in London working with Topshop creative director Kate Phelan and the rest of the design team.
"I have really missed being involved in the design process, and working with the team at Topshop," Moss said in a statement. Aww. “Now more than ever, with London being at the forefront of fashion…it feels like I’m back home working with Topshop.”
However this collection won't quite have the air of exclusivity the first one did. And not only because celebrity fashion collaborations have become de rigueur since 2006, when Moss first began her relationship with Topshop. Back then, there were no Topshops outside of England and our only access to the collection was through select Barneys and the Opening Ceremony store in SoHo.
Now, in addition to international e-commerce, there are several Topshop locations across the U.S. (including New York, Chicago, LA, and Las Vegas) as well as shop-in-shops at Nordstrom stores, where the collab will reportedly be available. In fact, Sir Phillip Green said in a release that there will be “pop-ups in department stores around the globe.”
So we have to wonder--with the proliferation of celebrity clothing lines and Topshop's worldwide availability, will this collaboration cause the same level of frenzy the last ones did? We're certainly excited, but feel less inclined to rearrange our life around the launch.
