When you think of Gwen Stefani's signature beauty looks, a few things come to mind: Platinum hair. Red lipstick. Bindis. Braces (never forget). But now, OPI's putting the focus on her nails--with a brand new line of "standout color in breakthrough finishes" inspired by the expectant No Doubt frontwoman.
According to the release, OPI was compelled by the 2013 Met Gala's "Punk: Chaos to Couture" theme to create a collection of polish that celebrated "the role of music as a major influence in fashion"--and Stefani was the obvious choice for the collaboration. The finishes do sound pretty badass: Love.Angel.Music.Baby. and 4 in the Morning dry to a semi-matte satin finish, while the chrome Push and Shove gets painted over Lay Down That Base, a "complementary base coat" for a mirror-like finish. And of course... there's glitter.
For those keen on delving a little deeper into Stefani's nail art game, the set's standout hue, Over & Over A-Gwen (a red to rival Stefani's perma-rouge pout) will be sold as a boxed set with Swarovski black crystals, silver, gold, and pewter studs, and nail glue.
"Gwen uses beauty to accessorize her style," said OPI's Executive VP and Artistic Director Suzi Weiss-Fischmann. "OPI wanted to create a collection as dramatic, diverse, and glamorous as its namesake."
Gwen Stefani x OPI will be available in January--just in time for you to pick up in exchange for those presents you didn't want anyway.
