Might want to start clearing out a space in your makeup drawer, beauty junkies--'cause you're definitely going to need it: Proenza Schouler has just announced it's collaborating with MAC on a makeup collection, to be released in the spring. The two brands have a longstanding relationship, with MAC creating looks for Proenza's runway shows each season--but this marks their first official mass market collab. This is also Proenza's second collaboration announcement this week: The first was on a menswear bag the duo designed for Jay Z's upcoming Barneys holiday collection.
According to Style.com, the limited edition product range will include ombre face powders (it's not just for hair!), lipsticks, eye liners, lip pencils, nail polish, and a 129SE powder brush, with all packaging inspired by an as-yet-unknown past PS collection. Judging by the work Proenza and MAC have done together in the past--and the first teaser image, photographed by Mario Sorrenti (above, left)--we're expecting a collection of soft, neutral colors--perfect for creating that natural, fresh-faced, Proenza Schouler-approved beauty look.
"We wanted to create something that the Proenza Schouler woman could relate to off the runway, and the MAC brand is so deeply rooted in fashion that we knew they would understand our vision," explained Proenza Schouler's Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez.
MAC creative director and senior vice president James Gager added to the mutual love fest, saying, "I have always respected Jack and Lazaro's keen vision and point of view. We've worked together backstage creating beauty looks for their runway shows for many years and it has been fascinating to me watching them evolve."
If they somehow manage to package the trendiness of the PS-1 into a makeup compact, we're betting the brands will have another massive success on their hands. Proenza Schouler x MAC will be available in April 2014.
