A Cate Blanchett red carpet moment is like a snow leopard sighting — so rare, beautiful and mystifying. But now that awards season is upon us, the Blue Jasmine actress is set to debut a series of daring and flawless fresh off-the-runway looks. And we’re keeping track.
Cate Blanchett has taken the 2014 awards season by storm. Not only has she stunned us with her sassy acceptance speeches -- she admitted to having "a few vodkas under her belt" at the Golden Globes and, um, stroked her statue at the SAG Awards -- but she's also topped nearly every best dressed list. The Oscars are still a month away, but it looks like her style streak is continuing.
On Wednesday night, Blanchett attended the AACTA Awards in Sydney, wearing a sexy (and incredibly shiny) gown by Givenchy. So far this season, this is her second Givenchy gown -- in fact, it's her second sequined Givenchy gown -- and, of course, she looked stunning.
This is definitely the most adventurous ensemble we've seen her wear on the red carpet, considering the ladylike lace Armani Privé gown she chose for the Golden Globes bordered on conservative, as did her recent choices by Lanvin and Michael Kors.
Could this sharp change in direction indicate that she's going to go the avant garde route for the upcoming Academy Awards? Something couture, perhaps? Bring it on, Blanchett.
