Kate Upton Felt Sad-ish After Victoria's Secret Diss
Sometimes the hottest, most babely supermodels in all the land -- even those with fabulous dance moves and Anna Wintour on their side -- can get bummed out by naysayers.
Way back in early 2012, Victoria's Secret's casting director Sophia Neophitou majorly snubbed then-rising star Kate Upton, telling the New York Times that VS would "never use her. She’s like a footballer’s wife, with the too-blond hair and that kind of face that anyone with enough money can go out and buy." (Of course, in a bizarre turn of events, Victoria's Secret then went on to publish an old photo of Upton on the back of its catalogue -- but that's another story.)
Two years later, Upton tells V Magazine (via E!) that, despite her immense success over the last few years, Neophitou's comments cut deep.
"I had just gotten my (first) cover of Sports Illustrated [when I heard the diss]" she says. "I wasn't used to that kind of media swirl. I had never met [Neophitou], so it really came out of nowhere." Upton continues that the experience was an "introduction to being in the spotlight and having people you've never met have an opinion of you."
