The full list of Oscar nominations was released this morning, and, not surprisingly, a handful of our favorite ladies made the cut. From established Hollywood icons like Meryl Streep and Julia Roberts to total newbies like Lupita Nyong'o, we're anxiously awaiting the awards ceremony on March 2 to see who emerges a victor. We're also looking forward to seeing who will be the evening's best dressed, and with such a stylish group of actresses nominated, we're thinking it's going to be a close call.
Click through to see who's on our shortlist, and tell us: Whose red carpet look are you most excited to see?
Who: Amy Adams What she's nominated for: Best Actress for her role in American Hustle Why she's a contender: Amy Adams always looks like a movie star -- see the Marchesa gown she wore to the 2013 Golden Globes (left) -- and if she incorporates a hint of the '70s style she wore so well for her nominated role (see her look by Valentino, right), she'll surely be a knockout.
Who: Cate Blanchett What she's nominated for: Best Actress for her role in Blue Jasmine Why she's a contender: A true fashion risk taker, we expect Blanchett to go for something couture -- like the Armani Privé (left) she wore to the Golden Globes or the Givenchy couture she chose back in 2011 (middle). On the other hand, she might go for something by a rising designer, like the Prabal Gurung gown she took for spin recently (right).
Who: Jennifer Lawrence What she's nominated for: Best Supporting Actress for her role in American Hustle Why she's a contender: J. Law is a red carpet chameleon: She's chosen sexy, body-con gowns with cutouts in the past -- like the gold Prabal Gurung and red Calvin Klein gowns above -- but she's also gone the princess route, like the Dior couture she wore to the 2013 Oscars (right). Since she's the face of Dior, she'll likely wear a piece from the French house again, so we're guessing her look this year will fall into the latter category.
Who: Luptia Nyong'o What she's nominated for: Best Supporting Actress for her role in 12 Years a Slave Why she's a contender: Nyong'o is new on the scene, but she hasn't made a misstep yet. She stunned the world in her red Ralph Lauren Golden Globes dress (left), and she's also made appearances in looks by Peter Pilotto, Altuzarra, Mary Katrantzou (middle) and Elie Saab (right) in recent months, so we know she's going to knock it out of the park. Plus, she's the new face of Miu Miu, so it's possible that Miuccia Prada herself has a little something in the works for her.
Who: Sandra Bullock What she's nominated for: Best Actress for her role in Gravity Why she's a contender: Bullock has had some hits and misses in the past, but on her recent press tour for Gravity, she pulled out all of the stops -- we especially love the Prabal Gurung gown at left and the J. Mendel number (middle) -- so our hopes are high.
