Zooey Deschanel Is Designing an Affordable Capsule Collection for Tommy Hilfiger

It's mod! It's nautical! It's "modical."

In Things That Should Have Happened a Long Time Ago news, Zooey Deschanel can officially add "fashion designer" to her ever-growing resume. The actress will collaborate on her first-ever capsule collection with Tommy Hilfiger, to be sold exclusively at Macy's and at select Tommy Hilfiger stores worldwide beginning in April.

The line, adorably called “To Tommy, From Zooey,” is Americana inspired, and will include dresses in a variety of silhouettes in a color palette of red, white and blue. From '60s-era shapes inspired by mod icons like Twiggy to nautical pieces with stripes and pleats, the pieces showcase the full spectrum of Deschanel's personal style. Tommy Hilfiger has released a series of sketches for the collection (seen above) and, as expected, they look as cute as can be.

“I am a fashion fanatic and I am always looking for new ways to incorporate vintage, feminine pieces into my own wardrobe," Deschanel said in a statement. "Tommy and I share many of the same inspirations -- old school music, classic films and old Hollywood icons -- and his guidance during the design process helped to put a really unique twist on each piece.”

In addition to serving as the line's designer, Deschanel will also serve as the face of the collection (naturally) in a campaign shot by Carter Smith -- the same photographer behind her February Elle cover. If you're hoping to channel "New Girl" next season, it won't set you back a ton of cash, either: All items in Deschanel's line come in at under $200.
