Now this is dedication. Garage magazine, the art and fashion publication founded by Dasha Zhukova, just released its sixth issue, featuring portraits of Karlie Kloss and Cara Delevingne shot by Nick Knight -- with background art by Adam McEwen -- on two unique covers. The accompanying editorial, dramatically styled by the magazine's new fashion director Charlotte Stockdale, doesn't consist solely of pretty pictures: According to ShowStudio, Knight's aim for the spread was to "challenge fashion's fleeting nature by creating an editorial built around a permanent form of art: tattoos."
The magazine was able to convince a handful of willing readers to render the images in ink, with the help of the fashion industry's favorite tattoo artists, including Dr. Woo and Scott Campbell. Each artist gave Knight's portraits a unique spin in the tattoo versions, and you can see Campbell's tattoo of Kloss (above) and Dr. Woo's rendition of Delevingne (below, complete with hands morphed into Playboy bunnies) in the new issue.
We know fashion's love affair with tattoos is ongoing, but as much as we really love models, we're not sure we'd want them tattooed on our bodies for the rest of our lives. ...Would you?
