If you're a reality TV junkie (guilty!), you likely recognize the beautiful blonde model who covers the upcoming issue of CR Fashion Book. For the uninitiated, her name is Gigi Hadid, the 18-year-old daughter of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Yolanda Foster, who happens to be a former model. How's that for great genetics?
In the fourth issue of Carine Roitfeld's eponymous magazine, Bruce Weber shot Hadid for one of two covers -- the other features model Lindsey Wixson in an E.T.-inspired image by Sebastian Faena (see below) -- with an overarching fairy tale theme throughout. Hadid also made her New York Fashion Week debut on Thursday, when she walked in the Desigual show, alongside the likes of Candice Swanepoel and Erin Heatherton, and she'll be featured in the upcoming Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue.
Roitfeld certainly has an eye for spotting and championing new talent -- she was one of Kate Upton's first supporters in the high fashion world -- and according to a release, she handpicked Hadid (who is signed with IMG) for the cover. It's easy to see why: Though the model doesn't get much screen time on Housewives, her beauty steals the show whenever she makes an appearance. Plus, she looks downright angelic in Weber's editorial.
This isn't the first time a Real Housewives offspring has found success in modeling. Christine Staub, daughter of Real Housewives of New Jersey's Danielle Staub, had her Fashion Week moment and covered Daily Front Row, but her career quickly lost momentum. But we don't see the same happening with Hadid.
It's interesting, though, how taken the editrix is with reality television personalities: Kim Kardashian covered issue three of CR Fashion Book, and the duo has been spotted together on a number of occasions, both with and without Kanye West. In the time since she was featured in CR, Kardashian has been embraced by the fashion world. Could Hadid be next? We're thinking yes.
