Fresh off of his high-tech Brooklyn runway show in New York, Alexander Wang headed to Paris, where he presented his fall 2014 collection for Balenciaga on Thursday morning, his third for the French house.
The designer's signature aesthetic came through in the urban detailing seen throughout, like exposed zippers, texturized leather coats and laser-cut dresses. Since the inception of his eponymous line in 2007, Wang has been known for his knits, and those are the pieces that really shined -- from cropped versions with fur stripes to beaded sweaters merged with structural silk tops.
Balenciaga has long been famed for its bags, and the models carried bunches of simple shopping bags (in not-so-simple materials like croc) down the runway. The casting was stellar, and aside from Wang's runway regulars like Joan Smalls, Natasha Poly and Kati Nescher, Gisele Bündchen made her first runway appearance of Fashion Month to close the show. (On her fifth anniversary with Tom Brady, no less, but we're sure he can forgive her.)
