Anna Wintour Sat Second Row at Valentino

This is the equivalent of the fashion apocalypse.

A seat in the front row at a Fashion Month show -- especially that of a big-name designer -- is an unspoken signifier of your status within the fashion industry. It's a widely accepted fact that if you're not seated in the first row, then you're not really that important.

This is why we were pretty shocked to see the above Instagram shot, capturing Anna Wintour sitting in the second row at the Valentino show on Tuesday behind her colleagues Tonne Goodman, Grace Coddington and Teen Vogue's Amy Astley. We weren't the only ones who were taken by surprise: The Wall Street Journal's Meenal Mistry tweeted:

We have no idea who could have bumped Wintour from her permanent front row seat, but we've reached out to Valentino's people to see if they can shed some light on this seating snafu. We will stop at nothing to get to the bottom of this Fashion Month travesty.
