With a blog name like "Bag Snob," you can be sure owners Tina Craig and Kelly Cook know a thing or two about what makes a good bag.
Now, they're putting that know-how to work: As first reported by WWD, the duo will be releasing a Bag Snob line of handbags this spring. The twist? The debut spring collection will be sold exclusively in the U.S. through TV shopping network HSN.
Called Snob Essentials, the line will feature on-trend cross body, tote and backpack styles in vegan leathers, all with custom hardware. The line comes as a result of the duo's licensing deal, signed last year with Beanstalk Group.
And while they might be snobbish about quality, the prices are anything but: the line ranges from $68 to $128. "We chose to launch at this price point because we firmly believe that money is not indicative of good taste and want to offer well designed bags at attainable prices," Craig tells Fashionista.
Lest you be tempted to write this off as just another attempt by home shopping to lure in the fashion set, you should also know that luxury online retailer Luisa Via Roma has picked up the collection internationally -- putting the Snob Essentials line alongside the very Saint Laurent and Givenchy bags they built their blog on.
This is not the first collection of bags for the duo: Bag Snob teamed up with DKNY for a capsule collection in 2011.
The duo told WWD that, as they did with their successful blog, they hope to expand Snob Essentials into denim and jewelry, and perhaps even transition to brick-and-mortar. "This is not fast fashion," Craig explains. "We will be designing four collections a year and are already working on Spring 2015."
Snob Essentials debuts on HSN's primetime slot, May 15, 9 p.m. to 10 p.m. ET, and again on May 16, 2 a.m. to 3 a.m. and 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.
