Dior Poaches Creative Head of Chanel Cosmetics

Peter Philips, Chanel's longtime creative director for makeup, is switching luxury allegiances.

Well, this is quite the steal. Christian Dior makeup has scored a new creative director: Peter Philips, who has been running the same department at Chanel since 2008.

WWD, which first reported the story Monday morning, was pretty spare on the details of the move, noting that Philips's hire is effective immediately.

The brand made its official announcement of the appointment on Twitter:

Tyen, the makeup artist and photographer who has been Dior's creative director of cosmetics since 1981, will remain within LVMH, WWD says.

Representatives from Chanel and Dior did not respond immediately to request for comment. We'll update when we get more details -- like, for instance, who will be replacing Philips at Chanel.
