After showing his 2014 Cruise collection in Monaco, this year, Dior's Raf Simons has chosen a far more exotic destination -- for most New York City fashion people, that is. No, not Tulum: We're talking about Brooklyn.
Dior confirmed to us Tuesday morning that it will present its 2015 Cruise show on May 7 at the Brooklyn Navy Yard, the same location to which Alexander Wang corralled his begrudging audience of Vogue editors and celebutantes for his fall 2014 show in February.
So what made the Parisian house say OK to BK? "We wanted the show to feel very New York, and the Navy Yard’s view and space captures the city," a spokesperson for Dior told WWD. Sounds like a collection inspired by La Grande Pomme could be headed our way...
And as far as transportation to and from, Dior won't be issuing any Wang-esque Uber discount codes or party boats. Instead, guests will be provided with round-trip car-to-ferry service, with more details to be included in the invites. The Old Guard may be trailing the New to the outer boroughs, but it's not about to cash in its posh card just yet.
