After a stellar awards season that culminated with an Oscar win for her role in "12 Years a Slave," Lupita Nyong'o won over the world with her poise, style and beauty. This is why we (and probably everyone else) were thrilled to hear Friday morning that the actress has signed on as the newest face of Lancôme -- her first-ever beauty campaign.
Joining fellow celebrity Lancôme ambassadors like Julia Roberts, Lily Collins, Kate Winslet and Penélope Cruz, 31-year-old Nyong'o will star in her own campaign for the beauty brand, shot by photographers Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott. Nyong'o had this to say about the upcoming partnership in a statement to press:
"I am truly honored to join the Maison Lancôme, a brand with such a prestigious history and that I have always loved. I am particularly proud to represent its unique vision for women and the idea that beauty should not be dictated, but should instead be an expression of a woman's freedom to be herself."
Nyong'o has been embraced by the fashion community for her standout red carpet style -- which also led to her scoring the spring 2014 Miu Miu campaign -- but this campaign, along with her inspiring words about beauty (especially concerning women of different ethnicities) has proven that she is well on her way to becoming a beauty icon as well.
Nyong'o's ads will debut in September. Watch her Instagram announcement below.
