Michelle Obama Will Cut the Ribbon at Opening of Anna Wintour Costume Center

The First Lady and two-time 'Vogue' cover star will be on hand to endorse the famous editrix on May 5.

Anna Wintour has made her esteem for President Barack Obama and the First Lady Michelle Obama widely known through her determined fundraising efforts on behalf of their campaign and by featuring the pair in Vogue -- FLOTUS covered the magazine in 2009 and 2013 -- and now Mrs. Obama will return the favor.

On May 5, ahead of the highly anticipated Met Ball, the First Lady will cut the ribbon to officially open The Costume Institute’s Anna Wintour Costume Center, which was recently renovated and  renamed in the Vogue editor's honor. This comes after 16 years of service as a Trustee of the Met, where she's raised over $125 million for the institute.

Mrs. Obama will also give remarks at the opening to invited guests, which will include students from the Fashion Institute of Technology and the High School for the Fashion Industries, both located in Manhattan. Unfortunately, we likely won't see the First Lady all gussied up in white tie, as she's not expected to attend the Met Ball later that evening.
