Here we were thinking 2014 was shaping up to be a great year, and then this bomb gets dropped on us: The Victoria's Secret Fashion Show is leaving the States.
Victoria's Secret Angels Adriana Lima and Candice Swanepoel announced Tuesday morning at the retailer's Bond Street store in London that they would be crossing the pond for this year's show. This follows five consecutive (and wonderful) years of the event taking place in New York, where the first-ever VS Fashion Show was held in 1995. (Previous shows have also been held in Los Angeles and Miami.)
This year's spectacle will take place Dec. 2 at Earls Court. And according to Vogue UK, VS Marketing Director Ed Razek has already asked Cara Delevingne to save the date.
But while the move might make it easier for the London native to make it, the decision to leave NYC likely has more to do with the brand's growth in the UK. Victoria's Secret has opened six stores in the region over the past few years and the event, with its endless promotion, celebrity guests and big-name performers, will undoubtedly help the retailer raise its profile in the UK even further.
