We are a news site, and it is not news that Marion Cotillard owns the red carpet. So sorry for being Captain Obvious, but the lady (Dior) was particularly on point on Wednesday at Cannes in a strapless, pale gray pleated dress that looks vaguely like the one she wore in her most recent Dior ad. That's probably because it, too, was a Raf Simons for Dior design. Mystery solved.
Between the Met Ball and Cannes, the last few weeks have been a blur of gorgeous gowns, meaning it's gotten increasingly difficult for any one dress to stand out. Paired with glittery pumps and an elegant bump/side braid, Cotillard's look was a breath of fresh air. Kinda '60s, wholly modern. Despite its classic shape, the dress's fans and folds make it worth a second look.
And speaking of air, Cotillard gets bonus points for doing a such an admirable job managing her dress on what appears to have been a really windy night. Let's look at this in play-by-play.
