Everyone loves a creative hack. In the beauty world, there are tons of time-saving, money-saving ways to re-purpose products, plus techniques you can try that don't require you to have the makeup brush prowess of Pat McGrath. For this weekly feature, we will pick the brains of beauty's best and brightest to try to make your life easier.
Michelle Phan, who has 6.5 million YouTube subscribers anxiously (I'm assuming) awaiting every new video, has picked up — or invented — plenty of creative beauty tricks over the years. When I chatted with her at a YouTube event a few weeks ago, she was happy to share some of the ways she stretches products, and one tip in particular is perfect for summer.
"I use mascara as eyeliner. I take my angled eye liner brush and dip it in mascara and I use it as a gel liner," Phan said. "It actually lasts longer than gel liners because it’s waterproof. I use it a lot at the beach or when I need waterproof makeup."
Obviously waterproof gel eye liners exist, but who needs to be carrying that around or fumbling with a tiny lid? No one, that's who.
And did you ever doubt that Michelle Phan wears eye liner at the beach? Now you can, too.
