Band of Outsiders is growing up. Scott Sternberg's Los Angeles-based brand of hipster-preppy wardrobe staples for guys and gals is set to open its first store in NYC this fall. To follow that up, this week, during its resort 2015 preview, the brand unveiled its first line of shoes.
While Band of Outsiders has done footwear before, they've always been collaborations. Manolo Blahnik usually did the women's shoes — which were typically not sold and just used for shows — while the brand has also collaborated with Sperry Topsider on men's options.
This range, which is being shown to buyers this week for an early November delivery, is purely Band of Outsiders: There are slide-on sandals with trompe l'oeil penny loafer uppers, wedges and flats with stripes that recall the brand's signature bandage skirts and versatile suede and leather ankle boots. Prices range from $295 for the loafer slides to $695 for the leather boots. Each style is branded simply with the phrase, "This is a Band of Outsiders shoe" on the inside. So perfect.
