Cara Delevingne is furious at recent accusations that she sleeps all the time -- to the point of being unprofessional -- and she's not taking them lying down. (See what I did there?)
In a recent Vogue profile of the It-girl-cum-model-of-the-moment, Plum Sykes writes that Delevingne slept through not one but two scheduled interviews. For most of us, that just conjured up kind of adorable images of Delevingne curled up in various animal onesies getting the rest she probably deserves.
But for Delevingne, the profile felt like a personal attack -- possibly because Sykes alleges that the real reason she was so sleepy is because she was out partying until 5 a.m. with Lily Allen. So Delevingne took to Twitter, as she has done in the past, to fight back. "Why do people in the industry lie so much???? They would rather see you fail than succeed [sic]," she writes. "What happened to supporting each other[sic]."
She also screencapped her tweets and posted them to Instagram.
"This just shows that the fashion industry is not the most understanding or compassionate of industries," she finishes (that 140 character limit makes ranting a tough prospect). "That only applies to the people that sit around not really caring and never really bothering to get to know you or what it's really like."
In fairness, Sykes does document Delevingne's grueling schedule -- in the week prior, she had flown to Shanghai and back for a Burberry show, to Scotland for a Mulberry shoot and gone out to support Kate Moss's Topshop collaboration launch. ("She thinks she might have been to L.A. just before that but isn’t sure," Sykes adds.)
Delevingne is in high demand, and it seems like the stress of her schedule is starting to show. Just recently, she told The Guardian that she "dreams" of punching photographers and feeling slightly creeped out that her fans know her every move. So if Delevingne needs to nap every now and then, we say let her rest -- but maybe, just maybe, she should take a break from the partying too.
